Graphics Card (GPU)

A Graphics Processing Unit is a single-chip processor dedicated specifically to managing and boosting the performance of video and graphics. They are designed to lessen the work load of the CPU and produce faster graphics. Though most computers have graphics chips built into the Motherboard, their capabilities are usually extremely basic. Your GPU will set the bar for your computer's gaming and rendering performance.

Things to look for:
  • Model # is more important than memory or clock speed alone
  • Size matters - make sure your card will fit in your Case!
