Power Supply (PSU)

The power supply unit is responsible for converting the power provided from the outlet into usable power for the different parts of your computer. Bundles of wires extend from the PSU into the computer, and connectors at the opposite ends of these wires connect to various components inside the computer to supply them with power. Some are specifically designed to plug into the Motherboard while others have connectors that fit into fans, hard drives, optical drives, and even some high powered graphics cards.

Things to look for:
  • Push enough power to support your GPU and all your components
  • Always from a reputable manufacturer - don't buy cheap PSU's
  • Make sure it has all the connectors you will need for everything
